SUMMER NIGHTS primary cruising grounds include South Florida and the Bahamas.

South Florida offers a wide range of cruising possibilities.  The metropolitan port cities of the Palm Beaches, Fort Lauderdale and Miami along with numerous other nearby attractions such as Singer Island, Boca Raton, Fisher Island, Biscayne Bay and Ocean Reef offer all the amenities of the most exclusive resorts.  Championship golf, cultural events, fine dining, night life and world class beaches are your playground.   Trophy blue water fishing is only a mile or two off shore in the beautiful warm Gulf Stream waters.  Fish or dive the local reefs or wrecks.  Enjoy water sports of all kinds.

Venture south and west to the Florida Keys and beyond.  Visit the largest underwater national park at John Pennecamp at Key Largo, or the area some claim to be the sport fishing capital, Islamorada, where one finds some of the best in flats, reef and blue water fishing.  Venture further south and west to the middle keys and hole up in Marathon or the exclusive resort at Little Palm Key.  Continue on to Key West and sample the culture and romance of Hemingway and Flagler.  Venture west on to the Marqueasas and the Dry Tortugas and visit the old Fort Jefferson National Monument.

The Bahamas offers endless cruising possibilities with 25 island groups, over 700 islands and 2,400 islets strewn across 100,000 square miles of transparent blue tropical seas.  48 nautical miles due east of Miami, find one of the most intense areas in the world for big game fishing in the Bahamas small island chain of Bimini.  Visit West End, Freeport or Port Lucaya on Grand Bahama, or Nassau and Paradise Island at New Providence.  Find world class resorts here offering a wide range of amenities including golf, casinos, dining, night life and shopping.   These and other island chains including the Abacos, Exuma Cays, Eleuthera and the Berry Islands all of the “near Bahamas” offer beautiful facilities and tranquil anchorages.  Venturing a bit further, consider Cat Island, San Salvador, Rum Cay, Long Island, Crooked Island or even the Turks and Caicos, each with their unique offerings.  Pristine beaches covered in fine white sand, nature preserves, historical sites, lush shallow coral reefs, vertical walls, blue holes, shipwrecks, small towns and safe ports abound in this friendly country.

The fishing potential of the Bahamas consistently gets rave reviews from sport fishing enthusiasts around the world.  Deep sea fishing for a broad variety of blue water fish including tuna, marlin, sailfish, dolphinfish (mahi-mahi), kingfish and wahoo is a primary focus, while a second draw is the world class bone fishing.  Reef fishing for grouper and a variety of snapper and others is also plentiful.  Top fishing destinations include Walkers Cay at the north end of the Abacos, Bimini and the Bimini chain, San Salvador and Cat Island, as well as New Providence and Grand Bahama.
